Does anybody do this with 15mm figures?

I just ordered a batch of these guys, and some Indian civilians as well. Can't wait to get them painted up. I think they will make wonderful zombie chow.

I enjoy running games using 15mm troops because they give a big game board feel without requiring a huge table of terrain. Wonder if other people do this to.

Hi Chris,

I have a couple of 15mm VSF units and walkers. The background is based around the ACW which allows me to use my ACW historical units.

Great pictures! Where did you get the Sherlock figure in 15mm?

I find 15s make a military big picture feel rather than an RPG feel.

Sherlock is a conversion using an ACW infantryman in great coat with a 15mm F&IW British light infantryman's head swap.

At the time I decided to go the 15mm VSF route, there wasn't anybody making specific VSF miniatures. As a result most of my 15mm VSF specific units are conversions of some description.

I chose 15mm for pretty much all my gaming because I have limited funds and space. I like the look of some of the 28mm ranges available such as the Dark Age figures from Musketeer, Conquest F&IW range, various Perry miniatures ranges, but a good 95% of the terrain I own and enjoy making is designed for 15mm.

Very true - I should have mentioned the bulk of my troops are made up using historical miniatures.
I was referring to the specific VSF troops in my armies such as the rocket troops, mono-cyclist, etc.

I've some 15mm Martians and Brit Redcoats waiting for me to get some flyers workable. Love the look you can get in the larger scale, but on the deck of multiple ships, 15's just seem to make sense.

Still, the Star Wars toys have waited a long time for me to get around to converting them, alas.

I have one planned.

It will be a mixture of "All Quiet on the Martian Front" vehicles and Martians and Blue Moon Colonials.

Three companies you must know about if this is your interest (if you don't already): Blue Moon Manufacturing (Deep Dark Africa, Horror ranges both have lots of great figures - and a designed Sherlock Holmes figure), Rebel Minis - they have an actual Pulp range (hoping for more in their Steampunk vein), and Khurasan (lots of stuff).  I own Blue Moon and Rebel and they work together fine.  Don't yet have Khurasan.  Another company for animals is Splintered Light Miniatures.  Then there is Musket Miniatures (look at their animals in their HO range, a bit large for 15 mm but the above mentioned ranges are all pretty large 15s (17-18 really).  And Irregular Miniatures out of the UK, their colonial range in particular, has quite a few useful figures and look at their animal range and their stone age range (forget what its called).  

Went and looked at the links - Brigade Games still has two packs that have an Indiana Jones like figure and a Geisha and some other useful figures.  Also, both Blue Moon and Irregular have World One ranges with some useful vehicles for converting - or maybe even using as is.

Would love to see more focus in this area.  I keep hoping to see someone putting out a range of 15 mm steam traction engines, historical ones.  Especially like it if they do it in 'kit' form so we can build a variety of items.  If anyone out there is giving it consideration, I'd be happy to correspond as on the matter.

Will probably buy some of the figures in the photo at the top of this link; always like to add cool civilians to my mix.

Thanks for the link to Highlander's Studio.  Those are some pretty cool figures.  Always looking for more figures to add character to the collection.
