Statues, monuments etc in BoB?
« on: 20 November 2012, 11:29:31 AM »
Hi. The Kali thread in Colonials has got me thinking.

I have some small wooden incense stick holders which were brought back from Thailand as a gift which would be perfect for 28mm; Buddha, an Elephant and a [Thai] God.

I think Buddha may make the cut ..  :)
"Ho, ho, ho! Well, if it isn't fat stinking billy goat Billy Boy in poison! How art thou, thou globby bottle of cheap, stinking chip oil? Come and get one in the yarbles, if ya have any yarbles, you eunuch jelly thou!"

I use Aquarium decorations...the resin ones. You get them ready painted for the fraction of the cost of wargames buildings. They sometimes need a little touch up like the Chinese temple i have complete with tree, but the large ruined Buddha i have needed no work whatsoever and only cost me £12 from Pets at Home lol

Well, you cannot have too many Buddhas, it seems...

Caves of the Thousand Buddhas

I have toyed with the idea to make some kind of representation of this for my Central Asia board. I have even degraded my self by visiting various New Age stores to acquire a number of statues for a modest collection of little heavy set men in bronze and terracotta.

You can pick up those little statues of the Terracotta warriors...would make a good frontage to a tomb...a bit pulpy (i like that though) but neat.

Other possibles to those mentioned:= Those little pot stands, as sold at garden centres , which keep plant pots off the floor & away from frost etc. I have obtained 'dragons & large frogs, both useful as statues/gate guards etc.; cast your own 'chess set' sets, especially the oriental one (has the advantage that you can use the misscasts as broken statues); Incomplete chess sets from jumble sales/car booters etc.
