Dixon do African bearers, Pulp Miniatures do Chinese with loads and Obelisk (available through Black Cat Bases in the UK) also do some Chinese that might fit. Brigade games do South Sea Islanders/Burmese porters.

I can't find the Sth Sea/Burmese on the Brigade site (heaps of tempting figures), can you post a link, please?

Ah, thanks, Paul. Papua New Guineans. That elephant with the "Aussie" driver is tempting.  :P

I use these ones from Eureka:

They have shown up as baggage porters in Africa, but also (and more frequently) as labourers in Wild West games!

In my earlier post, I assumed that you were only interested in African porters.  That was narrow-minded of me!  There are lots of other porters available in 28mm, like these from Bob Murch of Pulp Figures
http://pulpfigures.com/products/view/174

Sherpas from West Wind
http://www.westwindproductions.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=2_86&products_id=333

Tibetans from Copplestone

And some more baggage options from Castaway Arts (look at TR008 in particular)
