About to begin painting

So I will be able to shop in a big town which will hopefully some stores with gaming paint.

What colors work best for the following, any brands will be helpful since i dont know what i will be able to find.

Colors:
caucasian skin -
African skin and hair -
Denim -
brown leather -
the best metallic silver –

Suggestions for zombie skin tones?

My take on denim is a basecoat of dark blue (no specific colour, I just grab the first jar with a dark blue in) which I then drybrush with a mid-tone blue like royal blue. For a stonewashed effect you give that a slight drybrush with andrea blue (but any pale blue would do the trick)



As for leather, I basecoat with dark brown (like german camo. brown) and drybrush with cobra leather or khaki. (although here also I might just grab a jar of something pale brownish to my taste)

I use mostly Valejo colors, but I have GW washes too, but there are plenty of other good brands out there.
Also, if you enter a good store, the person behind the counter should be a modeller/painter/gamer him(her)self and should be able to provide you with some recipes for painting stuff.

For silver or gold I swear by Valejo liquid gold. those are alcohol based metallic paints, so you have to clean your brushes with alcohol.

I have limited number of colors but I do denim with blue and then with blue mixed with white
Leather, as has been told is dark brown with more khaki brown.

For zombie skin, I'd suggest you just get nuts and try things...theres no one skintone for decaying undead. I got them in normal caucasian, very pale, greyish, greenish, I've seen some purplish...everything works!

Oh, for paints, I use vallejo but I don't like them too much, as some paints appear to be old or something and are not mixed good. at some, a totally different color from the normal comes out first, at others, a waterish fluid comes out first...they have to be mixed I think, so it might be my problem. Also my vallejo wash has at first given only dirty water and now its too thick. But those are the only paints I use so I am really not to judge.

I mostly use Vallejo and they can settle.  There are some tips in their FAQs for restoring the consistency:

2.6. What is the shelf life of your Model Color paints?
The shelf life depends on the storage conditions. Our colors are formulated to withstand freezing and thawing. Normally the colors should be fine for at least 5 years, but we have tested some colors much older than that (10-20 years) and they are still workable. The colors do not “spoil” and unless exposed to extreme heat will not dry out either but the water content will evaporate eventually. Heavier pigment tends to settle, and the small bottle may cause some difficulty in restoring the balance in the consistency; if paint has settled heavily, first make sure the eyedropper tip is not blocked with dried paint, and restore the emulsion by rolling the bottle between your hands rather than shaking it.
2.7. I have a problem with Model Color, it does not seem to go on smoothly.
The pigment may have settled too much. Add two drops of Crackle Medium (70.598) and mix the contents of the bottle by rolling it between your hands.
2.8. I have some paint I purchased years ago, and pigment has separated from the binder. How can I best restore the original mixture?
The best way to stir the product is not so much by shaking the bottle, as by squeezing the bottle and then rolling it between your hands. Please us this method and try the
color on some other surface first to see if the blending has been successful. Also see point 2.7 for trying to restore balance between pigment and binder.
