EotD is NOT dead
« on: 01 August 2014, 02:18:36 PM »
Here are some EotD news from Andy Cooper (West Wind) concerning on going progress and future plans:

"[...] Yes, plans are in my head and on paper for Mars [comment: reffering to the EotD Mars Expansion which was mentioned during KS project]  and that is for after War & Empire and Secrets of the Third Reich Second Edition. So it's going to be a while. we punch higher than anyone else for our small company. [...] So other things have to wait until I have finished one project before I move on to the next job as no-one else able to do layout, graphics, etc.

The rules writer for EotD is currently working on new scenarios and we are also looking at a new intro game. We are also finally getting the remaining figures painted and ready for release. We had a hiccup on this as our painter, Ruben, had not been able to complete the painting of the range and we will not put out unpainted minis. This is all now happening in the background."

Talking about producing a new Supplement before the last one is finished properly - now that IS "punching high" . . . . .

 lol

To be fair I directly asked for the Mars expansion

To be frank he was touting that idea during the Requiem KS, if the pledges had gone high enough - the miniatures (and logically the rules) could have been part of Requiem.

I think Andy suffers from the "shiney shiney" a little too much, and needs to fully finish something before moving on - its not like he's even alone when it comes to the EotD rules, he could happily kick somebody up the ass over that and get things moving.

For perspective, Dwarf Wars was released in 2003 or so. Some of the miniature packs are still missing photos of any kind. Unsurprisingly, I was hesitant to buy any online back then. I wonder how well it sold and whether the issue was addressed by moving on and launching another, completely different system...

A very valid observation

I would be very sad if EotD should falter. It is a fine game, but like all such things needs constant tending which is difficult when you are a creative writer.

From my own experience of co-authoring IHMN I find it hard to concentrate on one product over long periods as ideas just keep popping up ... hmmm Occult Prussian Werewolves ... now where was I? Luckily I have a writing partner, Charles, who is very objective-focused ... Squirrel! ... and tries to keep me on track.

Thus I sympathise strongly with the EotD team and wish them well with their upcoming projects.

I suspect business, like many sports and marriage, benefits from a partner who complements one's weaknesses and strengths.  Finding that "balance" is always the hard part.
