The Cairo Police Force
« on: 27 February 2013, 09:18:33 PM »
Just finished these , wrote it while the muse was with me.....  Open to thoughts on the background and names.

Figures are a mix of Artizan, Blue Moon, Copplestone, Gringo, Pulp Miniatures, Warmacre and Westwind. Aren't we lucky to have such a wide choice?

The overall Commander is Sheikh Emd 'ouwn and his Lieutenant, Kugh 'em.  Younger sons, easily impressed by the smart uniforms and given a cushy job to keep them out of mischief.

The Local commander is Inspector Ali Khat, his squad is more Thin Blue Line than Hill Street Blues.

The Detective is Sergeant Ihab a' Brolli, but he is ably supported, for a while, by Achilles Toucan, a Flemish sleuth, at a loose end after solving a few deaths on a Nile Cruise.

The Flying Squad is led by Inspector Ray 'gan and Sergeant Kha 'tur, nobody messes on their manor.

Backup is provided by Corporal Mustapha Go's Special Constabulary, more F Troop than A Team.

'So do all who see such times. But that is not for us to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that we are given.'

Very nice! Lovely paint jobs, nice uniformity without being uniform if you know what I mean. Also, love the names. I'm a sucker for a pun!!

These look great, joroas.
Love the colour pallette, perfect for the theme.

The names tickled me as well, but that should not surprise you.

Some historical names were not much better.

I am not sure how many cops there are there but they could be a Bakr's Dozen?

The Abu Bakr's Dozen is a classic, though. I normally don't go with puns, but naming it after the first caliph to succeed Mohammed is funny. Though I won't guarantee you won't have some people offended by it!

Super stuff John and I think the names are really part of the whole fun of our hobby! Life too short to take this pulp thing at all seriously! :D

Thanks for the comments.
I have been in a bit of a painting fug for a while and my recently bought Copplestone Askari beckoned.  Lovely to paint and did the job nicely.
I seem to recall a Robert De Niro sketch, somewhere.............. :o
