Robin Hood - 1:72 scale
« on: 10 February 2013, 01:50:08 PM »
Right, so these are the first 1:72 scale figures I've ever painted, since I normally paint 25-28mm figures. These are the Airfix Robin Hood figures. Although the sculpts are pretty good (but small  ;D) the casts are terrible. There's an awful lot of excess plastic and it's pretty hard to clean it away. Still, there's a lot of figures for the low price and I've always wanted to paint some Robin Hood figures. As I have been watching Robin of Sherwood a lot lately (I'm currently watching series 2), I had to pick these up when I saw them. I painted these three figures today, and they're very easy to paint.

Right, enough talk, here's some pictures  ::):
Robin (the hooded man without a hood):

Will Scarlett (I suppose...):

Little John (I think):

It's a shame the figures on the box aren't named, so I had no idea who some of these figures were. Also, the quantities as shown on the box are completely wrong. For example, I have 4 models of a figure of which the box clearly says: x1. Oh, well. They were cheap, after all.

I suspect the casting problems are due to the sheer age of the moulds - those did get first released in 1964 after all!

Nice paintwork anyway.

There has always been confusion about which figure is which, they are useful as militia though.

Well, they did have a lot of flash and were made from soft plastic, but I don't think they were from HaT. The box looked like this:
