Okay it's not really topical for this board, but Mantic's acquisition to the rights to produce the official 'Mars Attacks' tabletop game, may result in there being some 1950's style US Army figures finally becoming available... http://www.manticblog.com/?p=7699

It is so topical. 1950s US Army is definitely 'Post-War and Modern'. I've been toying with some mid-late 20th century 'Imagi-nations' action and some US Army or Marines would be great for 'Police Actions' in Latin America...

However, I have heard that this will be in 15mm and therefore is useless to me. Bah humbug!

To be honest the 15mm thing doesn't ring true for some reason... and no announcements have been made regarding specific details as yet. I can see that it might be useful for the giant machines and insects... but you lose out on the detail for the more numerous (hence more will be bought) civilians, soldiers and Martians.

So it's a case of wait and see...

Lost interest as soon as 15mm was mentioned......nothing against the scale but not for me and I would have jumped into this feet first

Indeed.  Fingers crossed but not holding my breath. Never really heard of this crowd before so I took a peek at their website. The figures that I presume to be 28mm seem to be a mix of resin and overpriced plastic.

Still if it proves popular it might prompt someone to make 'after market' figures that fit the theme.

Doing Korean War era troops in 15 mm would make me reassess... everything "modern" I do.    Granted it's not much but that might cause me to consider dumping other eras/genres in the  "too large size" realm (25+ mm) after 1840s.
