I've always liked those 'Pulp Figures' sailors and you've done them great justice here.

Best,

Curt

Thank you both! White-on-white-on-white is not the easiest colour scheme to pull off or photograph well. I think I pulled off the painting, but the photograph could have been a bit sharper.

A lot of people give the US Navy sailors blue scarves, but in The Sand Pebbles (Mr. Murch's obvious inspiration for the sculpts and my reference for the paint scheme) they're nearly always in white scarves, over white shirts. Blue scarves only seem to appear with the blue uniforms, which aren't common wear - there's only a few scenes where the characters appear in the blue version.

Yes, white can be a challenge both to paint and photograph as it can easily become over-exposed. I often go with a light grey base tone to help give the upper shades of white something to contrast from.

I had to paint through the night to get my entry finished and only had 15 minutes to get the photos done and submitted. It was dawn and overcast at the time and so my pics turned out rather dark (I typically don't use artificial light). Oh well, this will teach me to get my stuff completed in time so as not to cause such a panic!

Now, back to the hobby desk...

Best,

Curt

Nicely done figs - the whole Interwar Period in China is fascinating and often neglected - lots of game and paint there!
