Dr Argo's Lair (Start of Kronos 1 Build)
« on: 14 July 2013, 12:01:09 PM »
Reading the new Argonauts book has got the magpie in me on to a shiny new thing! ;) I already have a Dr Argo model and I fancy building a Argonauts cast at some point in time.

The back ground in the book is very evocative and I liked the idea of one of Argos lairs, Olympus. I figure it'd make a great table to play on, maybe having a goodie cast trying to stop Argo powering up the infamous Kronos 1!

To that end I started to build the main objective of that game. It's supposed to be my idea of what Kronos 1 might look like. It's supposed to its head and shoulders just sticking up over the top of a kind of missile silo/robot hanger...

I've still hot plenty to do! I'm planning on having a staircase/walkway leading up to the hatch in Kronos head. I'm also planning on adding a lot of tech and pipes around the edge and leading into the pit, basically not having a smooth surface left anywhere around the rim....and Kronos himself is still a bit rough!

Blimey, Andy, you must go through greenstuff like no-one's business!

This is going to be another winner, no doubt about that!

Nice start. You're definitely one of the 'crazies'.

That is a brilliant start! Is it just me or does Kronos 1 look a little like Iron Maidens Eddie?

Delightfully silly.  In Pulp, why do all evil masterminds feel compelled to have a giant head/skull on top of their lairs?  (I would think it a dead giveaway).

Not really bud. I always use foam to bulk out any shape then GS over it. My only problem with that is it seems to produce air bubbles!! :'( I might have to try some sort of cheap clay underneath!

This is going to look awesome! 8)

Should you ever decide to make this big boy available for casting, I'm sure to pick one up as terrain for my old school Necron force (all metal minis from the early nineties range), as the head immediately reminded me of them.

And Eddie of course. there's no ignoring an Eddy reference... :D
