Time for some new 20mm SCW figures, perhaps?
« on: 27 July 2013, 04:30:18 PM »
As said in this posting on Minairons Miniatures' own blog, it had to happen – sooner or later.

So that, taking some advantage of the 75th anniversary of Ebro river crossing by the Spanish Republican Army, I'd like to share with you our plans of starting a new range of 20mm white metal SCW figures, to be designed by Juan G. Bautista of Xan Miniatures for us.

Might I know your opinion at respect?

From what I have seen of Xan Miniatures, these should be very good. It will be good to see some new 20mm figures for the Spanish Civil War. I would have preferred earlier war figures myself, but I do look forwards to seeing these... you might even convince me to pursue this in 20mm! Who knows?

I would buy them, the drawing look very good, all useable poses.
The sketches all have a Republican look to them, what plans do you have for the Nationalists?
Good luck with this venture, have you considered putting this on Kickstarter?

Hi all,

As you can see, we've chosen to develop Spanish Republican Army first - Infantrymen, command group, light & heavy support weapons and artillerymen (both AT and field artilleries). Our aim is to avoid giving a ragged appearance to the series, but to stick to contemporary photographic evidence instead (from both Republican media and international reporters) to show them as they actually were: a regular, reasonably uniformed army. Far from the subjective view heralded by their enemies - who eventually won the war and consequently wrote the history.

Immediately thereafter we'll start a similar series focused on the Nationalist regular Army. The purpose behind is to allow players to field the bulk of both armies in a short while, leaving for a later step to develop those more specialized, colonial or militia troops - that many would miss otherwise, but do not compulsorily form the hard core of a tabletop army.

Thanks for the Kickstarter suggestion. I hadn't such in mind for those two first series of regular troops - but it might be a powerful tool for expanding the range with the specials above commented. Quite of a good idea!  :)

I'll definitely be buying into these. 20mm/1:72 isn't my scale, and my regular opponent isn't into SCW, but I think it's just too cool. I think after I read For Whom the Bell Tolls I was hooked on SCW!

Looking forward to December.  :D
