S.P.Q.R. - Moiti goes Impetus - New: Velites
« on: 15 October 2013, 06:58:21 AM »
Painted up quite a lot over the last couple of weeks but didn't manage to produce something fit to show. So yesterday I decided to finish up my first base for Impetus. The miniatures were readily painted lieing on my table for some time now, only waiting to get based.
So yesterday they got their shoes on and are now ready for parade.

To save time I cut some corners and used  "grass mats with calcstones" from http://www.model-scene.com/x_foliage_st.html instead normal basing with grit and tufts. I think it looks quite nice but I still have to figure out how to use it best.

Figures standing are from the superb, if at first glance a bit rough looking, republican roman range by Aventine. The casualtie is from the A&A miniatures macedonian successors range. Shield transfers from LBM.

Thanks for watching.

Some more pictures over on my blog: http://moitereisbuntewelt.blogspot.de/2013/10/senatus-populusque-romanus-1-velites.html

The picture link didn't seem to work, so I tried to fix that. Hope you don't mind. But your excellent paintjobs really should show up here properly. Well done, mate! :)

....excellent paintjobs indeed... and an exciting and varied group of figures ...

... the left one...(?) ... the last time I saw a guy with a fleshwound like this was in Riddick III - It always looks worse than it is!

Great job!  Love the variation in minis, both in terms of the sculpts (a few different helmet designs, and not all wolf heads, is nice) and paint jobs!
