Help IDying GW(?) figs
« on: 23 November 2013, 10:21:01 PM »
for decades I have been curious about some figures that were in the Warhammer Fantasy Battles 3rd edition book.  Any help Identifying these figures would be MUCH appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

4th demon looks like an old Citadel Balrog.
3rd demon looks like the wings that came with my Jabberwock, but can't see the body to guess if it's the same figure or just the same wings.
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

The demon on the left looks like a Balrog too, not sure about the others.

At least 3 of the red wing guys are GW balrogs,

The cyclopean guy is a large plastic 'fighting fantasy'
Figure also from GW. These were a short lived range to accompany
The FF 'choose your own adventure' books in about 1984,
I believe he's an ogre with one of the optional heads.
The FF figs would be approx 54-60mm scale, so all worked
Well as 25mm giants

The 3rd and 5th balrogs from the left are the Ral Partha/Citadel crossover figures. If you google Ral Partha Balrog you'll get lots of pics of them, whereas a search for Citadel balrog will show pics of 1 and 4. I'm not sure what #2 is.

Incidentally, I believe that is 'Ugezod the Mighty' (from the Death Commandos boxed set) leading the Orcs across the bridge.

My brother still uses his plastic cyclops model as a huge giant in the few WHFB games he plays these days.
'Sir John ejaculated explosively, sitting up in his chair.' ... 'The Black Gang'.

thanks for all the replies, solves an old mystery for me.  Thought it might have been the GW balrog, but was stuck on the idea the demons came from a single line.  Hey, GW in their infancy, showing figures from other companies.  I miss that, like zoids in 40k.
Thanks again.

I think 4th from left is this one, not the "Balgorg" (which is a remake of this one):

(This one is painted by John Blanche)
