Dark Ages fiction series: Wolf Bretheren
« on: December 12, 2013, 02:53:04 PM »
Greetings! I just stumbled across this author, Griff Hosker, and his "Wolf Bretheren" series set in the Dark Ages during the fall of the Romano-British kingdoms. The main character is british, and ends up becoming the champion of the King of Rehged. The characters are OK, the setting and action is quite good. Here's the description of the first book in the series ($2.99 e-book at Amazon):

"The Romans have abandoned Britannia to the barbarians. The land is overrun by Saxons and Angles. Three brothers are left as orphans as their family and settlement is slaughtered. They are saved by the last King of Rheged, Urien. The eldest brother, Lann, leads the fightback against the hordes of Saxons. A story filled with battles and heroism; the story of the Dark Ages."

Author's page (fiction settings include Roman Empire, Dark Ages, Middle Ages and now the Napoleonic War): http://www.amazon.com/Griff-Hosker/e/B005EME0HI/ref=ntt_athr_dp_pel_1

Cheers!

Thanks, might give this a look. I'm in two minds about Cornwell, so some alternative Dark Ages fiction is welcome.

Self published I take it? Looks to be so judging from the cover. Might give it a look. Someone should really write about this period from the Saxon perspective.

It's self-published, but pretty good, and at $2.99 on Amazon/kindle it's not a big money risk to check it out.
