Wide track tanks? Edit: Or low ground pressue
« on: 10 January 2014, 03:39:20 PM »
What have I missed?

I'm trying to compile a list of low ground pressure WW II tanks (inter-war to late war) for a snow terrain board.  This is for a tourney and potentially anything produced in 28mm could be there.

I'm thinking:
T 34, KV series, JS series and all variants.  That ski thing with the aero prop.

Tiger, Panther and variants?  Landwasserschlepper,

Churchill?

M28 weasel, M4 tractor, LVT and variants.

No French or Japanese?

Thanks,
Joe Meyer

Edit: I'm looking for low ground pressure (good in snow and mud.  Landwasserschlepper may not work, but without armour it MAY be low ground pressure.  The M tractor series worked great in the snow without wide tracks.  I just don't know.

The Landwasserschlepper didn't have wide tracks, not at all.

Sorry ... :)

US Sherman tanks using "duckbill" track extenders. Panzer IV tanks using "ost ketten" track extenders.

The Panther and Tiger had "relatively" wide tracks, but then you have quite a bit of weight involved.  Maybe you could get away with the Panther?
