Smoggycon 2013!
« on: 17 August 2013, 10:34:32 PM »
Smoggycon 2013 will be taking place on November 23rd, at the Southland's Centre in Middlesbrough, running from 10am until 4pm.  Entry is only £2.50 per person, with free entry for SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed), and also free entry for the kids (Under 14's)!

Since it's debut in 2009, the show has grown into one of the best in the north-east.  This year Pendraken Miniatures have taken on the organisation, and are proud to be taking the show forward.  We are also pleased that Middlesbrough Gamers Club have agreed to help us out on the day, running the Flea Market and providing much needed manpower!

With over 30 traders present, providing for a wide variety of genre's and scales, there is sure to be something for everyone.  There is also a mix of display and participation games, encompassing wargaming, modelling and RPG'ing.

The Flea Market is a great option for any unwanted goodies, where for only £1 per half hour slot, you can sell as much as you like, with no commission at all!  You can deal directly with the buyers, answer any questions they may have, and also keep an eye on your goods.  Once your time is up (or better still, you’ve sold everything!), you can walk away, cash in hand, and enjoy the rest of the show!

For any fans of the Impetus ruleset, we will be holding a competition on the day, with winners qualifying for World League Status points.

For all of the traders, games, flea market and more, head over to the Smoggycon site: http://www.smoggycon.co.uk/index.html  And if there's anything we can help with, drop us an email using the contact details on the website.

For more info on MGC, visit their website here: http://www.m-gc.co.uk/cms/page.php?3

We hope to see you there!

I'd say yes, as that would be a very brave thing to do in Boro!

SWMBO chooses to go to shows and usually spends more than me.
If you want to try saying she's not a gamer, you've got a death wish.
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

You can give it a go if you like!

Excellent, she'd have a couple of extra quid to spend on the traders then!

The reason behind the free entry for wives/girlfriends/under-14's, is to make the whole event more of a family affair, where the missus and the kids can come along (whether gamers / non-gamers ), without any extra entry costs to worry about.  Hopefully this will encourage more folk to come to the show, and maybe bring a few new faces to this hobby of ours.

We've updated the Trader list, and there's only a handful of traders still to confirm now.  For the full lists, head over to the Smoggycon website: http://www.smoggycon.co.uk/index.html

And the entry bands have arrived as well!

The trader lists are now virtually complete, with Warlord Games and MBM Scenery added to the event.  We've also got a couple more games added, so check the Games lists as well: http://www.smoggycon.co.uk/games.html

Next up we'll be adding the directions to the venue, plus finalising the last of the games, so keep checking back for updates, and we hope to see you there!

With a little over a month to go, all of the Traders and Games have now been confirmed, and we've added the Directions to the venue as well.

If you're interested in using the Flea Market, make sure to get yourself booked in early, using the details on the website: http://www.smoggycon.co.uk/index.html

Not long to go now, we hope to see some of you there!

We can also confirm that WW1 re-enactor group, The Durham Pals, will be joining us on the day with some of their kit.  With the centenary coming up next year, it's a great opportunity to pick their brains on the finer details of WW1 equipment!
