No pretty pictures to share, but my blogmate created a simple set of Plastic Toy Soldiers Rules to play with little'uns.

Really neat idea and the fun of rolling handfuls of dice cannot be underestimated at that age  lol

The additional 'rules' to safe guard the figures are great and will save many a figure from the Hoover of Death.

I would add one rule more for food - anyone caught eating or drinking at the table has to do the dishes for the next few days - have you ever seen the mess a pizza can do?

A couple of more gaming thoughts:

Why not allow folk to skip their turn?  Just claim the troops are 'dug in' and staying still.

Think about removing one or more dice if the figures moved to represent the lack of a fixed shot.

Or am I making this too complex?

A couple of sites folk may not know about:

http://www.combatstorm.com (bit posh this one - you have to pay for the rules but has some good card building bits)

Andrew Beasley,
I have an official response for my blog mate who wrote the rules:

Why not allow folk to skip their turn?  Just claim the troops are 'dug in' and staying still.
Since there is no fixed Turn length, there is a risk of back-to-back "passes" where players might turtle because it is often dangerous to be the player that moves since there exists reaction fire.  For the Advanced Game where there are various missions I'd say allow "pass"; it'd be for the experienced players that wouldn't unnecessarily turtle.

Think about removing one or more dice if the figures moved to represent the lack of a fixed shot.
The Top Value would be used if not moving.  The Bottom Value used if moving.  I can definitely see more crunchiness for the Bottom Value for the Advanced Game if there is no Leader Soldier (Corporal or Sergeant) within 3-inches.

Or am I making this too complex?
Absolutely not much complexity; those are reasonable observations. =)
