I was wondering this, and found my old RT book and just planned to use that as all my models are from then.

Has anyone tried that?

Because over the years, the wheel has become a bloated skull encrusted, over priced and ridiculously complicated object of derision.....



Which is why it's worth going back to the original Rogue trader....I fully agree that the current system sucks the proverbial big one...but 1st Ed 40k is still a lot of fun to play.

After playing rogue trader again, I noticed many similarities to 6th edition 40k. 6th almost feels like a cleaned up 1st in many aspects. As far as the rules go. The codexes are another story. If some of u guys have not tried it, I would at least take a look. Many things have been pulled back in to the system. I will say 3rd and 4th where utter crap editions.
(not a fan boy, just an old gamer that plays everything and enjoys the old stuff)

I will download emperors name and give it a go. I also had a fleeting thought of using Infinity, but that might be better suited for a more generic sci fi with the other minis I own. I do think it would work though.

I've been playing RT again (and more recently some 2nd Ed) as I got tired of current editions (and I will say no more of them, we have a thread for that ::)). Though being sometimes complex, I have enjoyed that much (much!)more than modern editions. Total freedom of choices, creative storytelling, no competition, small games that can be played anytime... Give it a try! :)

Both RT and 2nd were both written before any form of political correctness and before GW became a large company and therefore has departments for everything.

Both games show that in their respective creativeness and more 'adult' tone.

Hallucinogen grenades, are one of the many dark humour touches through out both games....

Orks were Orks in them days.... and Marines were big and tough and cost a huge amount of points!
550+ points for 5 terminators with tele-port and a heavy weapon!

So your 5 marines really would take on a green tide armed with pointy sticks and bad breath....

those were the days....  :D

Speaking of ITEN - is there a weapons list for this game? One with ranges etc.? I can't find any for the 3rd edition...
