Great paint job. How did you make the mud caked on the tracks? Glue and sand?

A mix of Vallejo cobra leather paint, sand, PVA glue and gap filler. And water, of course. Afterwards a brown ink wash. It came out surprisingly nice, typical clay-like ground you find in my home region.
