Road to Dunkirk
« on: 20 March 2014, 01:18:17 AM »
Managed to get a game with my 15mm early war forces this evening using the Bolt Action rules. The scenario was a small British force (1,200 points) would try and hold up a larger German force (2,100 points) that was heading towards Dunkirk. The Germans had to enter one end of the table and leave via the other end. The British would get one point for each German unit still on the table at the end of the game and an extra point for each German unit destroyed. The Germans would get one point for each unit they got off the table and two points for each British unit they destroy.

The field of battle from the German entrance end

A British squad is spotted causing the Germans to debus the Hanomags to take them out

The Stug is ambushed by the Matilda II but suffers no damage

The Germans start to advance again but on foot

And are hit by an artillery barrage taking out a Hanomag, light mortar and pinning half their force

A Matilda I bravely blocks the path of the Panzer III and fires on a German squad causing them more casualties and pins

The other Matilda I joins in firing on the same unit forcing them to rout off the table

The first Matilda I pays the ultimate price as the German tanks head towards the Matilda II

We ended the game here as it was getting late and we had done seven turns. The final tally of points was twenty three to the British and eight to the Germans. The Germans tactics of debusing and trying to wipe out all the British forces rather than get units off the end of the table lost them the game.

Very nice looking game.
When playing with 15mm do you change the movement distance?

Thanks :)

We still use inches for everything as it gives more realistic ranges etc. one house rule we use that wheeled vehicles off road have the 'slow' special rule.
