Question about Mr. M (Peter Lorre) in PHP03
« on: April 30, 2014, 08:27:29 AM »
Can anyone tell me what the Murch figure Mr. M (looks like Peter Lorre) is holding in his right hand up near his face?  Thanks you.  Richard

He is not holding anything.

He just has a clenched fist.

No, he has a cigarette in the hand.

My one does not.

Maybe someone removed it as I bought it painted.

Sorry if I caused any confusion.... ::)

If he is holding something (there are two very small bumps in that area), my guess is that it is a cigarette, but if it is a cigarette it is being held in that unusual and I would say affected fashion (at least in my experience) between thumb and finger rather than between fingers.  I do appreciate the responses so far, and if anyone else has any light to shine on this, I would appreciate it.  It's a neat little figure. and I don't want to drop the ball when I paint it (that's an expression; he isn't holding a ball). Thanks. Richard

Ok, I cannot tell by looking at the figure exactly what is there, so here is a piccie of the one I have blown up to the largest size that I can and still post:

There does look like something, but to me it is so small I did not even see it looking at the figure with my own eyes...

Mine is more pronouced then - definitely a cigarette. That's a great paintjob for him, by the way.

gary, I wrote Bob today but haven't heard anything as yet.  The picture Mason posted shows a lump just below the middle finger knuckle.  It appears to extend to the index finger.  It is painted in that picture as skin not as a cigarette.  Back in the days when I was a smoker, I held the my cigarette between my index finger and my middle finger much as what is seen in Mason's pic.  Oddly the two lumps that my figure is holding are between the thumb and index finger in a less common smoking fashion but one I have seen in movies.  I painted my figure today (great figure with or without the cigarette) and I decided to paint the lumps as the two ends of a cigarette.  Probably no one but me will ever notice it because both ends are small, but it looks good to me.  That said, I'd love to know what Bob intended.
