Well how about this?...
« on: 01 August 2008, 04:05:23 PM »
Earlier this week, my lady friend and I were watching "Miss Congeniality" (movie with Sandra Bullock) on tv. In of the scenes the contestants in the Miss US election (I believe) are parading in
front of a band playing in front of the Alamo. Naturally, I exclaimed: "WOW! look, the Alamo!!!". My partner (very much into music, I'm not...) was impressed and said: "I'm surprised, how do
you know the name of that band?...".

Alright, the next ten minutes or so saw me explaining what the Alamo really was...

So the next night we were watching tv again, and (you won't believe this, but I swear it's true) and there was a preview of tonight's showing: napoleonic uniforms, Santa Anna about to take a young woman against her will, and Travis whispering "they ain't coming" (but Santa Anna ws, IMHO...), so I
asked her: "what's this?". Naturally, she didn't know, but 5 seconds later the screen showed "the Alamo, view it here fridaynight".

Now I'm off to TSA tonight and she's still working at the time the film starts, but she won't escape: I've got DVD's of both the newest and the John Wayne version ànd a 28mm model of the Alamo!

She doesn't know yet, but one of these days it won't be a trip to the mall, but a REAL treat (pity I haven't got the armies yet...).

So, there seems to be a fair chance I'll be single again soon...

 :)

Ya know, in my experience, people who like minis and people who like music don't mix well.

Hey Rudy you know it makes sense!

Its a great period to game with larger than life characters like Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie etc.

And You might like to know I am having a small range of figures sculpted at the moment specifically for the Alamo period.

They are designed for skirmish games, with the emphasis on character figures as well as rank and file troops.

So the divorce court is pending, but you will have some great figures to amuse you with all the free time you will have :D

Yes, I know about your figures, I'm eagerly looking forward to the range!
As far as divorce courts linked to unpainted figures are concerned, I would have to compete with the 6th century BCE's King Tamba of Banaras, whose harem numbered some 16,000 women and divorce'm all to work my way through the leadpile at my place!  Though, on second thoughts, if I would have that many females around, I would dress'm up in uniforms and have a real life war(game) with'm, much cheaper than paying for a lawyer 16,000 times over... lol
