Defend the Redoubt (Gondorians vs. Mordor Orcs)
« on: 26 May 2014, 05:37:28 PM »
I wanted to test out my new little ruin made from left over Hirst Art blocks in battle conditions, so I arranged a little skirmish...

You can read the whole skirmish report on my blog: http://therenaissancetroll.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/defend-redoubt.html

Those Orcs look great. Just like the ones from the Angus McBride paintings.

Smashing! I might buy some of those orcs. They look like they would be ideal as a starting point for orcy conversions!
Measure with a micrometer, mark with chalk, cut with an axe, hammer to fit, paint to match!

Thanks guys.

I have mixed feelings about the orcs. They do look just like the Angus McBride MERP versions, which is very appealing. They are also cheap and multi-part with numerous conversion possibilities.

On the downside, the detailing is soft and it can often be difficult to find arm combinations and angles that don't look awkward.

In the end, the good seemed to outweigh the bad and with a bit of patience you can get them looking all right.
