Halo Rules - Preferably free?
« on: 26 June 2014, 06:06:55 PM »
OK, I'm not a wealthy man, but I still like to play games.

Looking for some rules that can be used for Halo skirmishes. I have tons of the Hero/Action clix figures.
I have a small collection of Terrain from my WH40K days
I have Heroscape tiles/terrain as well as Lego/Mega Blocks

Looking for a more free form rule set (cheaper the better) that are quick and easy for my son and I to learn. I'm kind of looking at Fubar, but just want to make sure I'm not overlooking another set that might be more accurate/fun/easy.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Looking for a set of rules that adaptable for different genres.

Another one I've found is WarEngine.

Anyone have preferences over one or the other between it and Fubar? What sore of pros and cons are there?

can i recommend deadzone? it's designed to be squad vs squad skirmish and the rules and cards can be found online and on mantics website.
never trust a horse, they make a commitment to shoes that no animal should make.

Only found quick start rules and two figure cards. I will look at it and consider it though. Thank you.

Mine are spartan on spartan at present for red vs blue games. Not too complex AP based, but not simple. Several drafts in if you're interested drop me a pm.

cheers

Have you checked out the sticky for rules?

I was going to suggest Toy Mallet 40cents. ;->=  lol

I vote FUBAR.  How large of an engagement are we talking?
You, sir, are not allowed to attempt a takeover of the solar system until your octopus sobers up.

I would start small and go up from there. I'm still trying to get some of the Actionclix Warthogs, but having a hard time finding them at a good price.

they're also poorly scaled imho. Macfarlane ones are much better.....I have eight!.;)

If I had started buying back when they first came out, then maybe, but now, to buy on ebay, you're paying almost twice as much. Still trying to figure out why shipping is more than the item itself on most items.

I'm planning on Flying Lead with only minor modifications. Not free, but quite cheap, and one of my favorite systems for small-scale firefights.

You could also try Free Wargames Rules, here are links to sci-fi and moderns (which I think would probably work reasonably well for, or be easily adapted to, Halo).

I'm not trying to drag this off topic, but Miniature Market still has the "battle damaged" actionclix version for sale.  However I agree with the Commander that the Mcfarlane one is a better deal for the price.

On rules, I use 5150 by Two Hour Wargames, which although not expensive, is not free.
