Muskets & Tomahawks with Pilgrims
« on: 02 July 2014, 02:08:10 AM »
My new project - Muskets & Tomahawks with the Pilgrim Fathers.

I have ordered the Brigade Games "King Philip's War" figures of Indians and Pilgrims but the Pilgrims are limited to 3 packs of 5 figures each so I am looking for suggestions on bulking the "civilians" out as I already have additional packs of the Indians plus some selected figures from the Conquest and Crusader Woodland Indian ranges look like they will fit in.

Initially I looked at various Pirate and ECW ranges but the Pirates are all in 'short' trousers and the ECW all seem to have the '12 Apostles' across their chests except posibbly the Perry ECW10 Advancin Musketeers but I cannot get a clear view of the crossbelt.

Any suggestions please :-)

Thanks,

Graham Wilkinson

There are a number of unarmed civs in the Foundry ECW stuff.
Cheers,

Thank Poiter, I had a look at their range and may add a few on my next order to Foundry.

When picking up my Brigade Games order at Historicon, Lon said that they were looking to expand the King Phillip's War range with additional figures - fingers crossed!

Are you looking for armed or unarmed civilians? Apostles would still have been common during King Philip's War.

I am looking for both and had considered using some figures with apostles but as this is a 'long' term project, I will keep looking and waiting for now.

Any word when Brigade Games will expand their King Phillips war range?  I like those Pilgrim figures too.  Was all ready to start that project, then Napoleonic Skirmish took over my life for the last several months.

Remember that the Foundry stuff is a little small. Pegasus do some 1/48th civilians and Indians for the period if you're okay with the taller end of things. Putting them on lower bases ought to roughly even things out.

No idea when the extra Pilgrims will get sculpted, Lon said his scuptor (don't think it was Paul Hicks) is behind on other ranges.
I will have to check the Brigade Pilgrims against other manufacturers as it looks like Pirates and ECW can be modified by either adding shoes/trousers to the pirates or trimming the 'apostles' on the ECW.
I have yet to find any 'firelock' armed train guards for the ECW period.
According to research so far the Indiands had adopted the musket in large numbers though some still used the bow.

Don't Warlord do a firelock armed storming party? They aren't too energetic if memory serves.

Plastic...................... I prefer metal but it does look like some of the Irish Brigade figures from the same range will work - thanks for the comment  :)
