This KV has been painted with white wash to simulate a faded winter paint job. More on my blog: http://www.the-wargamer.com/kv-1/

Looks good  8)

The winter white wash is really toned down so it must depict tank during late spring?

And how about the id number in white, should it have been in other colour than white for the winter?

I am under the impression that the white wash paint was just simply applied over the top of the tank excessing paint colour so the numbers would often be covered as well.

They applied the white wash around the numbers or repainted the numbers in red.
But as far as I know, markings in the Red Army was far from consistent so you can do whatever you like.

I once tried to get a definite answer to the actual color of "Soviet green" as used on vehicles and found there is no correct color!   :D
