One of my friends doesn't like the muddy pants. I think they give them character.  lol

Thanks, General Lee!

Aside from pants meaning a different garment on this side of the pond, I would tend to agree with you  ;)

More figures painted using General Lee's techniques.  This time, I am attempting to recreate the Columbus Depot Shell Jacket worn by some Western troops.

Good work, gentlemen! Would you mind me asking—do you highlight after applying the dip?

That's so rude!!!!   ;)

I have not been highlighting after the dip.  But I have been adding dirt and some highlights BEFORE the dip.  The key seems to be: brush the dip on about 6 figures, then go back to the first with a brush and remove the excess.

General Lee, these are western troops that I have painted in Columbus Depot jackets.  This as a brief history of the jacket from a re-enactor supplier:

I too think the blue goes on the butternut well. I think I am going to paint a couple of regiments in these jackets.  I am pushing to put on a game in the spring based on the Battle of Franklin...at Franklin!
