Torches?
« on: October 06, 2014, 02:32:46 PM »
Hi all,
Having been challenged to a game next March and being fairly new to IHMN, I've been scouring the resources trying to come to up with a fluffy, yet competitive, but mostly fun list, composing of miniatures I already own... lol

Anyways, I think I read somewhere that flaming torches are similar to the All Electric Truncheon but can't for the life of me remember where I saw it.

I only have 2 figures with Torches so its not fatal to my plans but I would like to try and field all 15 of these miniatures in a 300 point game.

Any help to steer me in the right direction would be appreciated.

Cheers
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

Annnd, I found it!  lol
In the IHMN Gothic armoury...

Duh!

Does anyone has any insight on how useful torches (or nightsticks) are in IHMN?
I assume the flaming ability must be decent?

Thanks

Torches makes opponents easier "to hit" (on account of burning/heating right through most armour, IHMN p.26) making them a  good choice for your mobs of angry peasants with low Fighting Value (hand-to-hand skill). For better duelist the bonus to hit is somewhat wasted, I'd recommend swords or two-handed weapons which have a better Pluck Penalty (making them more deadly.)

Thanks Tordenskjold!
Makes me wish I had more of them.
I plan to use them on weaker (read cheape) troops to gang up in melee combat.

Looking at the bits left over from eating grapes I thought the little stalks, you know the bits that you have to pull out of the top of the grape, look very much like torches. Let them dry completely, drill into the hand that is to hold it & secure with a drop of superglue. When the glue dries it can be painted. Voila, all of the mob can have torches. They are also good for lighting:- dungeons; crypts & mines.
