Longstreet - First Play and the Beginning of a Campaign
« on: 02 December 2014, 08:01:20 PM »
I was introduced to the ACW rule set called Longstreet over the Thanksgiving weekend.  I joined my friends Randy and Bill for a day of gaming the American Civil War with these rules.  Bill had read through the rules and Randy and I each took command of an army for the battle.  Randy took command of the Confederate forces while I was given the Union.

I enjoyed the game quite a bit and found the card mechanic for activation interesting.  As this was our first game, we made a few mistakes, but we learned a lot and know we can go back and review the rules with a better understanding of how the game play works.

You can see my review on my blog.  http://gamingandshooting.blogspot.com/2014/12/longstreet-american-civil-war-game.html

Here are a few pictures of the battle.

The winning player isn't always the better player.

Are those Perry plastics?

These don't belong to me, I just got to play in the game using them.  I asked the owner and have been told that these are a mix of IMEX, Italeri, Waterloo, Esci and possibly a few Airfix as well.

These are all 1/72 scale plastics.

I hope that helps.

Longstreet is a great set of rules - and your game looks like a ton of fun.
