Completing a 15mm Canaanite City
« on: 18 January 2015, 08:42:31 PM »
Hi,
Started this ages ago and have decided to try and finish it - or at least the sections done so far. I've put a couple of instalments up on Warfactory.
http://www.warfactory.co.uk/wp/
Pic of the city shows the sections before I restarted it. Second pic is the main city gate.

Hope you like 'em.
Al

Agreed - will it be for gaming, or more of an impressive backdrop?

That's grand!
I always wanted something on that scale, but the only storage I have is underground and damp, so I am limited in my options for material used.
Love the gate, by the way.  8) 8) 8)

Agreed - will it be for gaming, or more of an impressive backdrop?

It started as a pretty bit for a demo game.
After having played some boardgames I had an idea whereby I could come up with some rules which would see bases of figures contesting spaces within the city. These spaces might include open areas but mostly would be blocks of buildings. Certain building might have special effects, so a temple might have fanatical defenders and impact morale nearby if captured, victorious troops capturing a bar might be 'delayed' for a couple of turns. Uncontested routes might allow swifter movement.  It would use kind of boardgamey rules for playability, with the figures as pretty counters.
I needed a reasonable area to do this, hence the extensions, and wanted the ability to change the configuration inside so it didn't get dull. Nearly done with the modelling and I'll show how I've set it up to allow changes to be made internally. Whether I ever get round to the rules - who knows. I had hopes of making it bigger and adding a harbour - I have started scratchbuilding some ships - but health is a bit iffy so that might be curtailed in the face of a host of other partially completed projects.
Thanks for the comments - more soon to interest you I hope.

Very Impressive. Can't wait to see more!

Thanks for the comments. I have added parts 3 and 4 to Warfactory.
http://www.warfactory.co.uk/wp/
Part 3 is really about producing the frame the buildings sit in, and part 4 covers the basics of making the buildings.
