Opel Bliz -Which one
« on: 02 February 2015, 07:29:54 PM »
I'm hoping to buy a 28mm Opel Blitz - uncovered version. It seems, though, that there are a good few manufacturers of this vehicle. I wondered if anyone could recommend a good one with plenty of space in the back for figures? Thanks for any advice given.

the Perry one is my choice, clean casting, nice truck ...

I have the Warlord one, it's also a good clean casting - however the cab is seperate, (in three parts, two doors & a roof - you also have to provide your own windows, easy enough made from blister pack plastic) pewter & a bit of a mare, you need to make sure you dry fit it to see if alterations are required (mine needed the rear wall of the cab shortening by a little under a millimeter in order for the roof not to be a ski slope). Dont get me wrong, it's a good kit, but needs a little work. I'm not sure how it compares to the Perry's kit, which also looks nice.
Hope this was helpful & good luck with the project.

I found the Opel Blitz from Warlord Games a bit to much work, i bought 2 and its quite some work like Ballardian wrote. I am not sure, if i would buy it again or go for another manufacturer in this case. The Blitz is one of the older kits and still lacks some of the modern more comfortable building schemes.

I really like the Ebob Opel Blitz, it requires quite some modelling though. Not sure but the Warlord one might be the simplified resin version.

Thanks, that's very good of you but I'm going to go for the Warlord Games one this time.

I wouldn't. The one I had is poor.
The fit of the doors especially is terrible.
I came, I saw, I went home again..

Thanks for the heads up. Now officially confused. I think I'll put this on hold for a while and do some more research.

Thanks to all for your advice.

I'll put in a late defence for the Warlord model, it can suffer from the same problems that any resin bodied vehicle kit does - noteably warping. The door fit problem mentioned can almost always be easily fixed, usually with a combo of straightening  the resin chassis in hot water & filing the pewter doors till a good fit is acheived (& it really is usually very easy to rectify).
All resin kits can present these problems & I don't imagine that the Perry one, (nice as it looks) is any different, so until someone  makes an injection molded plastic one, we're going to have to put up with it - don't  let it put you off, it's not that  bad!
