90s Oldhammer Dark Elves

While definitely not up to the amazing brushwork of many here, I have painted a few of these 4th Edition era WFB Dark Elves.  I couldn't see too many like them in the archives, so I thought I would post up some pics.



I have gone for a simple dark scheme and old Citadel shadow grey as base skin colour.

The banner is supposed to be the flayed hide of some unfortunate victim but I'm not sure it works and I might try a more conventual flag.

They look very unfriendly! As for the banner, my first thought on seeing it was "yuck, that looks like skin!" so to my eyes the painting was very successful!

Mine was "Mengil Manhide!", so ditto! They look great - there's a bit of a Melnibonean vibe, I think.

Yes but I'm not sure yet.  I did five at first for trying out with the Fistful of Lead Core Rules or the promised fantasy addition.  I put them on round bases as I'm unlikely to paint enough for full Warhammer style ranked-up units and I have a Galadhrim Army for GW's Middle Earth rules they could fight against.  I've also got Dragon Rampant, so I might do enough for that.  Other options are Fistful of Lead Bigger Battles or Age of Fantasy from One Page Rules.

Spot on!  Mengil was my inspiration for the banner and I was listening to Elric of Melniboné whilst I painted.
