The Cult of Amun
A ‘Crazy Egyptians with Mummies’ Variant Company for IHMN by Strawbuk All rights of the original authors of IHMN fully acknowledged and sworn to in blood.I play IHMN with figures I have, can purloin from mates or get cheap from evil bay, so I have to make adjustments to even ‘canon’ companies. Therefore….
It is not only Professor Abir of the Servants of Ra who has been delving into the sand and rituals of ancient Egypt and uncovering what might have best been left untouched. Of unknown Egyptian origin, Pinudjem takes his name from a high priest of the Amun cult of the 21st dynasty of ancient Egypt, from which he claims direct descent. Pinudjem briefly stole the Book of the Dead from the Servants of Ra and resurrected an ancient power into a new body: Nefertari, queen to the great Ramesses the Second.
However, the Cult of Amun is very different from the Servants in plans and outlook. They seek not domination of the world nor indeed contact with modern ideas (and hence seek to adopt ancient dress where possible) but a restored independent Egypt ruled by Pharaohs and priests. They have hence been offered, and accepted, the support of powers happy to see the British unsettled in their control of the Nile.
The Cult hates the adherents of Ra, or more precisely Akhenaton, for it was in his first incarnation that he forced monotheism on Egypt and worshipped only Aten. The Cult seeks the restoration of Egypt under the full panoply of the ancient gods and so they are particularly outraged that the monotheistic Ra-ites use and abuse the regalia of the Gods such as the Khopesh of Osiris.
The Characters
Pinudjem has kept control of mystical powers mainly to himself so while he can raise Mummies they are less powerful than those of Ra, usually minor functionaries or lesser generals, and rely more directly on his control. If he dies, all mummies take the test explained in the Bound in Darkness mystic power.
Equally Nefertari is less powerful than Akhenaton but she comes with a bonus: one of her guards buried with her took his vow to always protect and very seriously. Ahmose appears as a servant of Osiris or Sobek, a human with either the crocodile or hawk's head. If his Queen dies then he too takes the Bound in Darkness test.
Pinudjem is not rash enough to rely only on ancient tracts but has employed followers as bodyguards, tough street bullies from the slums (fezes pretty much obligatory for these!). The Cult has also attracted desert tribesmen who hate British Rule and this anti-slavery nonsense (a wide range of options from Sudanese ex-Mahdists to Libyan desert Arab types). Finally the Cult has one very special operative: Amunet, the dwarf assassin, deadly with a poison dagger and able to reach the parts other killers cannot.
Special Talent Bound in Darkness
- : this figure is linked by arcane powers to a specified figure with the Leadership Talent. When the Leader dies the figure must roll against their pluck with a -1 modifier to the roll. If the fail they fall into a heap of rags/sand/bones. If they pass the fight on, but all future pluck rolls are -1. This costs -5 points ie the figure is 5 points cheaper than ‘normal cost’ thanks to this 'talent'.

• Ahomose;

* not to be confused with Ankh of Morpork
** in the case of this scantily clad beauty this may be rhyming slang… https://www.dropbox.com/sc/vilcbi591xzjar6/AADraPG5WAFx1KniE2SADhMzaAn aggrieved mummy plus Nefertari strutting her stuff with a bodyguard, a disgruntled tribal warrior and ‘two poison daggers for the price of one’ Amunet. Still looking for Ahomose. The rubbish paint jobs are mine, rest are acquired.
