Painting Bell Tents

Hi All ... I'm struggling with getting a decent look for some 28mm scale Bell Tents (hard plastic).  I'm looking for the pale brown/white style of tent which I'll most likely use for pulp games to make a campsite.

I'm using Vallejo paints ...

Anyone have any advice/ideas on what colours and technique work best?

Apologies for the lame question, but after 3 trials it's just not coming together for me

I had the same problems getting an acceptable finish on some tents with acrylics myself. In the end I resorted to oils and got this result:



I base-coated with a beige acrylic and let it dry thoroughly, then I painted all the shadows and joins with Burnt Umber oil paint mixed with white spirit to a milky consistency and after about 30 minutes I wiped off most of the oil paint using cotton buds (Q tips).
