Supersystem - table size, set up, etc?
« on: 05 May 2015, 07:43:09 PM »
Another lame question from me, I'm afraid.

I've picked up Supersystem 4th ed after a discussion with Rusti (who will also be supplying the figures) and I was wondering about recommended table sizes and terrain requirements, ie is it a cover friendly game like many WWII and modern rulesets, or does it benefit from large open spaces? I'm guessing it will be a mix as different supers will prefer different set ups?

The reason I'm asking is that I may take a small superhero set up to BLAM,  as my Prodos Aliens may not make an appearance anytime soon (Fox approval).  I had an.idea for a 3'x3' rooftop game with. Up to 4 small hero teams of 2-3 supers. I'd more than likely just use the fast play rules.

Any advice would be great, thanks.

4'x4' is the idea in the rules. I think when you plan 3'x3' you should plan in 2 to 3 levels. Maybe one roof with 3 levels. Or some roofelements with different highs. So you can make it more difficult to reach each other.

Thanks Dirk. I was thinking maybe 3 or 4 levels and balancing the teams with flyers, etc.

First, thanks for buying SS4!!!!

As to terrain, I like a crowded board, if only for the fact that super-strong models can wield a lot of objects as clubs or make-shift missiles! So having cars, lamp posts, mail boxes, etc. makes a game more fun. The super-strong gal can't get at that annoying flying model?  Sure she can! She just tosses a mail box at him!

Always remember, +1D defense for soft cover, +2D defense for hard cover, and you get cover so long as any part of your base is obscured by it.

Hope this helps!

Thanks guys. I'm playing around with a rooftop idea with roof gardens,  plant rooms, a helipad,  etc. Cover sounds good.

A helipad implies a helicopter! Excellent super-club!
