What are the good podcasts nowadays?
« on: June 02, 2015, 04:58:45 PM »
I need something to listen to while doing pre-paint preparation, and a man can only listen to so much BBC R4 before a medley of consumer affairs, Woman's Hour, the Archers and vocally belligerent MPs starts doing irreparable damage to his brain. I need something hobby-related to comfort and swaddle me :)

So, what are the good (English-language) podcasts in the miniature gaming scene these days? I could also consider podcasts on tangential subjects like RPGs, military history or general fantasy/sci-fi geekdom if they're light, beginner-friendly and non-technical enough. Youtube channels could also work, if they're the chatty sort of videos that can reasonably well be listened to without watching.

Meeples and miniatures is the best one out there in my opinion, there is also Wargaming Recon. You could also try WWPD as well

Totally agree with Meeples & Miniatures and D6G. I also like Nerdherders. Not all gaming, they do go into films, comics and books but only geek related stuff.

I've listened to a couple of episodes of Meeples and Miniatures recently (the one about the Open Combat kickstarter and the latest one, about the UFO Squad game). They gave me the impression that this podcast is very focused on the business/industry side of the hobby. Most of the discussion was about business decisions, financing, number-crunching and, especially, the pros and cons of the Kickstarter model. I'd been hoping for something a bit more to do with the creative, inspirational side of the hobby, aspects like world-building, story-telling, aesthetics, painting and modelling (to the limited extent that can be covered in an audio-only format) and so on.

Did I just pick two episodes that aren't very typical of the general sort of content in Meeples and Miniatures?
