Riverboat for all kinds of games....
« on: 28 June 2015, 12:50:06 AM »
So, I recently played in a colonial game that had a British gunboat, and, unfortunately, it did not look as good as one would hope. So, being the competitive and evil mastermind type that I am, well, this occurred.

About 5 hours work later, here we are.  This can be used for colonial, VSF, post-apocalyptic, and possibly even Pulp, especially in China.

Feels like the job is a good'un.  The fun part - the deck is made from sheet magnet, so anyone with magnetic or washer bases will stay where they are put.

Great work, as usual! Going to loan that riverboat some weapons from your VSF Norwegian fleet?
Sailors have more fun!

Probably - they are all removable as well, and that would make it easy.  I have guns on carriages I could use as well.

Excellent!
I love the generic feel to it as well, so many uses.

That was my goal, honestly.  I play colonials, VSF, post-apocalyptic, pulp on occasion, modern horror, and I could use this for any of these.  I could probably even shoehorn it into a future wars game, because there are only so many ways to make a boat.

And while it is kind of simplistic, I have always felt that most vehicles are going to be terrain, not necessarily 'combat models', so you have to keep it simple, or it just gets broken.

Lovely.
Thanks or taking the time to photograph your step by step progress. I think that if I follow, I can unscrupulously pilfer your blueprints and build something similar.

P.S. I like the use of the round box lid cut in half for the paddle wheels.
Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

I sympathise entirely.
I always bear that in mind too, when making scenery, as I always have to stop myself from really going to town with detailing.

Wait, isn't Upsheet Creek yours?  What the bloody hell do you consider going to town? Individually painted grass leaves?   ;)
