Fritz and Tommy clash in No Mans Land
« on: 19 June 2015, 12:33:09 PM »
On Tuesday Lee and I played a simple Patrol scenario from Chain of Command using the CoCing Up Mud and Blood supplement.

It was the first outing for Lees' newly painted Tommys and they put in a great performance on the day.

Loads more photos and a battle report on Scrivsland.

Great stuff as always Paul and good to see Lee gaming again too.

He's done a mighty fine job on those Brits  :-* :-* :-*

Betcha he had a blast(?).

Darrell.

Very nice miniatures.

Just a minor point to consider. It was extremely uncommon to see terrain features that could provide significant protective cover in No Man's Land, like the wooded area. Either one side or the other would have occupied them. If not then both sides would have trenches in the woods, often quite close together. The scenario still works but consider it to be more like an engagement battle during a major offensive, where one side is advancing deep into the enemy lines and the other side is launching an immediate counter-attack. In German, this would be an example of a Gegenstoß - a counter-attack that went in as quickly as possibly, in contrast to Gegenangriff - a counter-attack launched after a delay and careful preparation.
