A Visit to the Miracle Man
« on: 29 July 2015, 07:23:58 PM »
Right, here's something we are going to start trying in our own games (tonight in fact).

Its fun, fluffy, and fits in well with the play style of Frostgrave - feel free to use, ignore, change, add to etc etc

A Visit to the Miracle Man

Quote
Ottovar, carried his masters body up the steps to the opening at the front of the shack. There was no door, merely rags and beads hanging down. "Beads, an odd choice" Ottovar thought - but then he looked closer, they were bones. Neatly threaded, chicken bones, the bones of small animals - but wait, is that a finger bone?

The rags were thrown back, leaving the entry to the shack wide open - in the entry stood a wizened old man dressed in tattered grey robes. The old man smelled strongly of Mutton and Tomatoes - "that's strange" Ottovar thought to himself. The old man stared, frowning for a second.

Suddenly his wrinkled old face burst into a wide smile "Hi there - I'm Miracle Max. What can I do for you today?"

If your Wizard (or apprentice) dies from a roll on the Injury table, you can take your licks or visit a Miracle Man. Healers, Hedge Wizards, and Wise Men of all kinds flocked to Frostgrave when the "boom" of searching the ruins started to bear fruit. Why risk exploration, simply set up shop on the outskirts of the ruins - wait for someone to need your services, and charge them large fee for your help.

Visiting a Healer costs 10GC up front, if you dont have it - you must pay with the cheapest Magic Item in your Possession. Please Note your dead Wizard or Apprentice has not been abandoned as of yet, so you will need some form of Will in place to allow your Wizard or Apprentice to spend his money in this way ;)

Once you have paid for your consultation, you roll on the Miracle Table and see how well the treatment took.

Miracle Table (the cost of Treatment is in brackets after the result, if you don't have the Gold available, you must pay with a Magic Item thats nearest in Value to the Charge)

1-2 - Permanent Injury (25GC)
3-4 - Badly Wounded (50GC)
5-6 - Close Call (100GC)
7-20 - Full Recovery (250GC)

NOTE - You may re-roll the result on the Permanent Injury Table when under the Treatment of a Healer if you so wish, but you must take the second roll.

Costs are adjustable, if you feel they are too high or too low - change them.

If the wizard is killed, can't the 500gc Life Potion revive him?

Yeah, it's a nice entertaining take on it.  Make me want to make an objective marker/terrain piece even if it isn't needed on table.

The Elixir of Life, of course it can - but Miracle Max is FUN!
