2/54e Regiment de Ligne - Talavera
« on: 14 October 2015, 08:11:16 AM »
Hi all,
The history of the 54e Ligne's involvement in the Peninsular War is summarised with the completion of the 2nd Battalion.

Eleven battalions down, thirteen to go. If you would like to know more then just follow the link to JJ's

Thanks chaps.

Yes with the completion of the 54e Ligne and the halfway point done will be a big landmark!!

I aim to break things up with Cameron's brigade of two battalions to finish off the British and do a painting tutorial for the Brits. Then full speed ahead to finish the French and do the last Spanish.

Should look good when it's all done.

Beautiful work - just out of curiosity, what size are the bases? Are you actually using the "Napoleon at War" game rules? I've seen it locally.

Hi grant, thank you.
The bases are as for Napoleon at War and the dimensions and guide are on the blog. Just go to the labels section in the right hand bar and find "basing guide". All the information you might want should be there.

I haven't played Napoleon at War for quite a while. I put together the Rolica scenario using the rules. The concept of the rules is very clever with some excellent design concepts. I wasn't a fan of the Flames of War direction they seemed to be heading towards and now the company have put the project on hold as they turn there attention to ACW! That said the basing system is very straight forward with units of 12 and 24 and I find it works perfectly with Carnage & Glory, which to my mind is a first class set of Napoleonic rules. I tend to flex the size of my units with infantry having four or six bases in a game to represent normal to under strength battalions without messing up the ground scale to any great extent.

Hope that helps, cheers
JJ

Thanks for that. I saw the oddity of switching to acw on their site. Odd. Why? It's such a saturated market (not like Naps aren't); they should have stayed the course.
