Not to mention this is the advert picture on the KS

Specific mention of "Highly detailed miniatures" on the front page.

What they're delivering appears to be hugely sloppy board game pieces.  So, if I'd backed it on what they stated they were delivering, I'd be hugely upset.  If they just advertised it as a board game, and the miniatures were anywhere near the posted pictures on the KS, then so be it.

Aren't you guys expecting too much from a boardgame?

Not when it's claimed hobby quality miniatures, etc. The Cthulhu Wars miniatures are stunning, that's a boardgame.

i am glad that i skipped this one. the renders were already sloppy during the ks and the minis, well i could do better sculpting by randomly dropping blobs of greenstuff on the floor. my sympathy for the poor souls that actually pledged money for this.

Yes, the poses of the renders look odd from those shown here. And in fact the sculpts aren't my cup of tea at all.

Just another lesson Kickstarter has rammed home on other projects:  Never pledge on renders alone.

And even then.
Imagine they show you magnificent sculpts, only to use them in a weird casting technique like these figs or with some disgusting material like Sedition Wars...
Oh, and when they don't screw that up, you might get nice figs in a completely wrong scale (even though they were advertised as 28mm figs) like those geniuses at Queen Games did with Dark,  Darker, Darkest...
Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons,
for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

Played the game yesterday at Spiel and it was a BLAST. Excellent boardgame. And the miniatures are great playing pieces for a board game.
Indeed. You are right .... in a way. ;-)

Ha!  I thought I was the only one that was completely disappointing by that when I opened the box.

It doesn't say that the miniatures are in the box, though. They might be referring to the pictures of the "highly detailed miniatures" which are indeed on the box (they used the 3d renders for that!)

lol

True...and I suppose it may not be lying directly.  They very likely did sculpt highly detailed miniatures by computer...probably printed some 3D masters of high detail...then used them to produce abysmal production figures for the purchasers.

It's not technically a lie. Kind of like the old days where people on ebay would trick people into buying a picture of an item - only for the remorseful buyer to go back and carefully read the listing to find out it was actually an auction for the picture...though they paid for full price.

Left me a little bit annoyed to see only negative getting mentioned. After all they really seem to have done something about the issue:

Well that is a major improvement, are there any more pics for other miniatures as well yet,

If backers are in with a chance of getting something finally approaching what they expected in quality, thats indeed great news and a nice positive.

Still the negative comments were generated for valid percieved reasons, but its nice to see actions to address them  :)
