This is the Vietnam gunship version, but it is considerably cheaper:

Probably wouldn't be hard to turn into a civilian plane (though I must admit I'm not really up to speed on the differences if any between the DC-3 and the C-47).

The Monogram one is more in reach for my wallet  :)

The display one is nice, but too pricey for me...

Should be able to make a civilian one out of the gunship, though... I have both files, clippers, and greenstuff  lol

No Problem;

TK MAX (UK discount stores) are selling a 1/48th scale Dakota for less than £40.00.  Its a HUGE model and I saw two at the TK MAX Store in Rugby (on the way out to the M6) on Monday afternoon.

I think it was Corgi - so metal as well!

Check out other TK MAX stores, but if you want one - I suggest you get in touch with this company very quickly.

The model was Franklin Mint - and not Corgi.  Sorry.

The interiors are radically different, of course. For modelers the big difference is the passenger entrance. The C-47 has a gaping hole in the fuselage, not a door. You might be able to get some preformed styrene plastic from a hobby manufacturer who specialises in kit bashers supplies.

Why bother with all that hassle?  Just look for Monogram's civilian DC-3.  It's already got the smaller fuselage door and the passenger seats and overhead racks for the interior.

My usual (UK) online sources didn't have it. It was only a quick search, though. Might be available somewhere.

That Vietnam gunship was the nearest thing I could find that didn't cost a king's ransom.

You think, one should make the interior accessible... or alternatively have one, where the upper part is removed for internal play?  ;D

I see possibilities  >:D Indy vs. the evil cultist hijackers....?
