Looking for 3-way scenarios - think UN Peacekeepin'...

Hey all,

I'm looking for post-WWII scenarios that involve neutral/UN troops stuck in unpleasant situations. Are there any such online?

there's a fair amount of material published on the Battle of the Medak Pocket (Canadian UNPROFOR troops faced down Croatian troops)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medak_pocket

If you can get Carol Off's book, Ghosts of Medak Pocket, you'll have enough to build a scenario http://www.amazon.ca/The-Ghosts-Medak-Pocket-Canadas/dp/0679312943

Although I guess that's not really a three-way...

Problem with teh Blue Helmets is that their hands are usually tied - they don't have the resources or the authority to intervene decisively.  Most scenarios with UN peacekeepers have them standing by while the world goes to shit around them.  Thinking of the genocide in Rwanda, the collapse of Yugoslavia.

UNISOM and UNITAF in Somalia will probably have some options.  Remember that the US Rangers in the Battle of Mogadishu (Black Hawk Down) were supported by Pakistani and Malaysian peacekeepers.  Somalia was in general a pretty hot spot for a UN peacekeeping operation.

The UN has more freedom of action in the DRC (MONUSCO) but quite how game-able the scenarios would be is anyone's guess.  But you'd have the Congolese army and UN troops vs the various rebel militias.

Or AMISOM, where the Kenyans and Ugandans in particular have been pretty active.

Depending on how far back you go, Congo in the 60s?

I was thinking more of something like Op Bøllebank - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Bøllebank

But you make a good point about the actual gameability of UN peacekeepers! Maybe I should just come up with some fictional scenarios instead, or at least do some more research - Congo in the 60's seems to hold some potential, and it would allow me to make use of my Peter Pig AK-47 rules...

Thanks, guys!  :)

I just saw 'looking for 3 way' in the preview on the left and thought I'd come to the wrong forum.

I ran a convention game using Ambush Alley a few years back where I had three sides.

One made up of insurgents
One of US troops
One some PMC guys escorting some high level UN administrator.

PMC started out in the courtyard around the two white trucks and were to escort them off the south/bottom on the table.

US started on the south and had to secure the downed chopper and attempt to find/rescue any wounded flight crew.

Insurgents had several 'hot spots' to emerge from and there were several civilian mobs on the table the insurgents could turn into active fighters or the US troops could attempt to disband.

In 1995, may 27, a section of french peacekeepers is tasked with the mission of re-taking the bridge of VRBANJA , Sqrajevo, and free other french soldiers captured by Serbs dressed as blue helmets.
They were soldiers from Marine Infantry Régiment 2  (2e Rima) backed up byan  armoued unit (RICM ).
They did it for the cost of 2 deads and 17 injured

Alternatively...perhaps the UN faction in a three-way game has alternate non-combat objectives?  Ie. escort civilians (other sides may not fire on civilians within X" of a UN peace keeper) etc.  Or UN peacekeepers can only fire at hostiles within a certain range of themselves or civilians (meaning the opposing sides would want to maneuver around them?).

Between rebels, army forces, and peace-keepers you could come up with three very distinct methods or play.
