New Year Round-Up

A completely narcissistic post, I admit, but I have done a little round up of my year.

Good to hear you've had a productive year despite illness and injury!

I've had everything packed away for several months, as we started an extension in October... but everything is now back in place in my NEW games room/office!  Lovely to have some proper space, I can now get a 6x4 ft table up without trapping some of the players behind it until the end of the game, or playing the garden.

Played the first game in the new room yesterday - Beyond the Gates of Antares.

I will continue to paint my minis in the living room, I don't want to be antisocial!

Thank you very much  :)  I do love having a games room - our house now has a a room where all the hobbying and writing happens, so I can keep it all out of Hannah's way.

How does Antares play? Some of the models are certainly very lovely.

Very smooth game.  The basic orders system comes from Bolt Action - draw dice from a bag to determine which side will activate a unit next, then give the unit one of six orders.  The mechanics are more detailed and the units have actual stats rather than entries on a table for Green, Regular and Veteran, so it's easier to add in armour and suchlike.

Been nosing on your blog - some cool AARs!  Do you mind if I ask what rules you're using for the post-apoc games? I'm not familiar with THREAT, are they your own rules?

Sounds interesting. Is there still one die per unit, or is it based on your force's C3 capability, (almost) like in Chain of Command?

Thank you! THREAT are indeed some rules I have been brewing for weird modern/post-apocalyptic gaming. Depending on the mix of characters to mooks, it can run from squad to platoon size. It's quite rough and alpha at the moment, but it's one of my pet projects for the upcoming year. Hopefully I shan't be ashamed to share it with people within a few months  ;)

Still one per unit, although there are now multiple-dice units, usually vehicles or giant beasts.  And the occasional dice - stealing weapon...

Mechanics are based on D10 now.

Your rules sound interesting, and the AARs are great!
