Ground Zero Games holiday sale is on till December 20th
« on: 22 November 2024, 02:31:16 PM »
Jon's announced the start of the 2024 holiday sales deal, which is following his traditional pattern of you getting a big of extra freebie stuff with your order and a discount code for use in January 2025.  The discount (and the amount of freebies) scale up based on the size of your order.  Details here:

https://shop.groundzerogames.co.uk/

Also don't forget Brigade Models has their own sale going, as per here:

https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=147324.0

For folks in the EU and Northern Ireland, AFAIK Jon hasn't said anything yet one way or the other about ending sales to your region due to changes in legislation, but Brigade is no longer accepting orders past November 28th.  Alternative Armies has just announced they're pulling out too, which is just more bad news.

Jon just sent out a note to the mailing list that basically states he's trying to figure the ramifications of the EU GPSR announcement, indicating trying not to panic, but deep concerns.

At the end of the email:

"...but for now, if you are in an EU or EEA country (or in NI) and want to get an order in to me, I STRONGLY recommend that you do it NOW (or very soon, which effectively means this week) rather than waiting!

Jon (GZG, Monday 25th November 2024."

Beat me to it, I came over to update about that.  Just the latest of many companies pulling out for their own safety whether it actually turns out to be something that get enforced or not.  Grim times for EU minis fans - and, bizarrely, those in Northern Ireland.

Wait, did Jon Tuffley just sign up over here?

I know he doesn't spend much time forum surfing, but I thought he had an account already.  Huh.

Welcome aboard Jon, if that is you.  :)

That would be very cool, I’ve enjoyed his products since the mid-90s!

Whereas, I've only since the late nineties, but to be fair, I AM your barbaric neighbor to the south. Bit slow...

I was taken aback when he mentioned in his last note to the list that something on LAF caught his eye. I guess he can post his own damn notices!  lol

Just kidding, though I will take partial credit for him being drawn on board.

If he was still releasing new Full Thrust figs regularly I'd probably still be doing the same for him on SCN, dead as that forum is these days.  Been all about the 15mm for a very long time now - what was the last new fleet, the Kra'Vak remaster?  The Crusties?

Latest from GZG confirms that all sales to the EU are off for the foreseeable future.  Quoting from the GZG storefront:

Quote
FURTHER UPDATE ON GPSR SITUATION, 30th NOVEMBER:

I'm afraid that I've had to take the decision to suspend all EU/EEA/NI sales for the time being (as explained in my last update below), as I'm currently so busy that I simply haven't had enough time to sort out any alternative... the shipping option for these destinations will be turned off on the store either TONIGHT (30th Nov) or tomorrow morning (1st Dec). I'm hoping that this situation will be temporary and that I will be able to resume all sales sometime in the New Year, but for now I just can't run the risk of any parcels being turned back by Customs due to the newly-enforced regulations. All orders that have already been placed (and any last-minute ones that are made tonight before the options are disabled on the store) will of course be fulfilled, there should be plenty of time for them to be delivered before the deadline. Please keep an eye on further announcements here, as soon as the situation changes I will let you know.

Jon (GZG, Saturday 30th November 2024.

Sad news all around.

Damn. I was in the midst of copying to do pasting, when LAF told me I might want to refresh the page...

However, Rich, the last vacchead news out of GZG was new FT 'boats' which I mistakenly post in Commercial, in the Bazaar.

Ramshackle just made a similar announcement.
NOT buying a 28mm WW2 army for the foreseeable. Deal with it.

Granted, but that's a very long way from being a new fleet.  Pretty sure the remastered (and lovely) Kra'Vak were the most recent of those, with the Crusties being the last before that, although I might be wrong.

Pretty clear where the bulk of the demand/sales are, and that's been the case for a long time now.  Heck, even I never bought all the new Kra'Vak designs, but I mostly much dropped out of painting starships in 2020 for lack of both sales and opponents.  Everything on my nearly-dead blog since then has been old work I dredged up pictures for.  Far cry from the glory days of FT releases - scrolling back through Dean's page we had all four core FB1 fleets fully remastered and expanded on plus the Crusties and ScanFeds between 2005-2010.  Just a staggering amount of sculpting and casting, and all of it by hand.

Ramshackle just made a similar announcement.
I've lost count of how many businesses have dropped the EU at this point, both in the gaming industry and out.  More nails in the coffin for traditional casting and another big push toward STL files and 3D printing.

Sorry about missing the 'fleet' part of your statement. Danger of tired, old eyes trying to make do on a phone, don't you know.

Yeah, printing is definitely hammering nails. I still scream when someone refers to an OOP fig as out of print...

As for the list of Brit gaming manufacturers foregoing EU trade, I suppose THAT would be an appropriate list for Commercial.

Doug

Edit: Silly of me to say Brit. I just saw a 'merican producer restricting sales to just the US 'due to new regulations.'

Oh, I know.  I know all too well.  Lost sight in one eye earlier this year.  US health care costs means it'll never be fixed.

To be fair, that P is just as often "print" as it is "production" to folks involved in publishing.

Oh yes.  And if you think it's bad now, wait until the tariff wars really get rolling in another month or so.

Really, Jon, just teasing about the posts.

However, I will now assume you will correct anything I misspeak or leave out...
