Hooten and the Lady
« on: October 10, 2016, 05:03:27 PM »
Anyone watching this? Caught this on Sky 1 the other night and then watched the previous episodes. Involves an adventurer called Hooten and an archaeologist (Lady Alex) as they travel the world in search for hidden treasures.

It's all very pulpy. It reminds me of a lot more recent American shows: Relic Hunter, The Librarian(s) in style, theme and tone. It cast my mind back to the 80s more in terms of some films from that era: Romancing the Stone, Indiana Jones. Also the dynamic and relationship between the two leads very similar to Brendan Fraser/Rachel Weisz in The Mummy.

So far they've searched for El Dorado, the tomb of Alexander the Great, Sibylline Books and a scroll written by the Buddha himself.

It won't win any awards, but will provide plenty of Pulp inspiration.

I've only seen one but your right it feels somewhat dated but a good source of ideas.
I think im going to stick with my guilty pleasure of Colonel.March of Scotland yard (D3 department of Queer complaints)on Talking Pictures ( if your married then its a recording job as its on at the same time as the soaps) hidden away in the movies category on sky.

Mark.
