Yes - but remember to dice to see if they blow away at the start of each round

Have a look for kapok used for seat / cushion / toy stuffing.  It's a lot better for fog as it teases out better than cotton wool and does not go as flat.

Or a small piece of very scuffed acrylic sheet.
The type of stuff that used to get used for school/office fluorescent light fittings is sometimes useful, and you sometimes find it in skips (although it can be tricky to cut neatly)

I cut out 6" x 1" templates of Xmas white felt sheet (more than I will ever need!) which can be folded to fit passageways etc and then have kapok resting on top. We use a 6" x 3" piece of card to check LOS

Just a quickie on the same theme but I print out pictures of stonework to 6" x 6" and then fold them to size for the spell Wall (to fit terrain etc) - they last half a dozen games and look great. I may get a couple of large magnets to form a base for them.
