Another Saga Review
« on: 12 December 2012, 04:03:48 PM »
I know I am late to the party, but I did a review of Saga on my blog: http://daleswargames.blogspot.com/2012/12/saga-review-and-test-battle.html

Rather than present a comprehensive page-by-page review of how absolutely everything works, I focus on those mechanics that make Saga stand out, and end by rating it with my nine factors (liberally stolen from one of the Macfarlanes, I forget which): Drama, Uncertainty, Engaging, Unobtrusiveness, Heads Up, Appropriately Flavored, Scalable, Fiddly Geometry, and Tournament Tightâ„¢.

I also wrote up a test battle report (no pictures though), mostly describing how my assumptions while reading the rules played out. It was a fun game, even if I did get spanked.

Finally, I was asked on a previous post to talk about Wally Simon's new books (really Russ Lockwood's new books, but you get what I mean). Although I never met Wally, I can tell through his writings that he was a kindred spirit.
