SD Forum early closure / new facebook page

It's not a company. It's just a guy who ran a forum for fellow painting enthusiasts for many years, recently decided he didn't want the cost and hassle any more, and in response to requests from a few of the members there, opened up a Fb group instead. So that those people could continue to discourse and share their painting with their friends from the former forum. That's it. His choice. Their choice. Let's not make a great big drama out of it 

I am sure we all have our "small slice" of the war game communities (plural) of the war game hobby and think it is representative.  FB is a choice, like LAF, that people make.  Pursuant to Captain Blood's comment I will only say that I will check it out, thanks for the notice for a source I was not aware of before.

I'll miss the old forum : I was a regular there for the past six or seven years and I'm a little sad to see it gone. I'll probably end up joining the new FB page despite my aversion to Facebook but it won't be exactly the same.

Still, I understand the decision : the SD forum had become a pretty slow place these past couple of years with many of the old faces no longer posting, and you could tell Steve's heart was no longer entirely in it.

Great site and sad to see it gone. Now I understand not being able to access it for the last couple weeks or so.
Unfortunately I also do not use facebook.
