A most impressive spectacle. Bravo! The rockets seem to have been much more effective than they ever were in real life. Are they a bit overpowered in these rules, perhaps? Or was it just some seriously jammy dice-rolling?

Seriously jammy! Two 6's, twice in two turns! Poor dice in my Saving and Reaction too!

lol Oh dear! No accounting for jam, unfortunately. One simply has to bear it.

You may be unwittingly suffering from what my nephew and regular opponent refers to as his "artillery curse." This manifests itself so that whenever he is possession of artillery it is utterly useless, and yet whenever he faces it, it blasts him to bits. He insists it is a real phenomenon.

Excellent report with photos David. Sorry to read that your impis felt the sting of the rockets, ouch!
Best wishes,
Helen

Very jammy dice rolling, trust me :)

A rather fine game, that could easily have gone the other way. Not sure about smelling jam but I am sure I could smell the fear of the little lead men when those impis came streaming in.

Funny you should post this, as I've just ordered Mr Bickley's Zulu War rules. Then I notice the man himself is using Black Powder! Hmmm...

In all seriousness, however, that is a great looking game. It's fun that the rockets - such duds in the real scrap - proved so effective. The pull to do a Zulu project just got a hair stronger!

A fine looking game.
It looks like the rocket's red glare,
bombs bursting in air,
did the Zulus in. ;)

Oh, I'm sure I will. I ordered along with Daniel Mersey's guide to the conflict, so I should have some good reading in order!  :)
